About me

Hello, my name is Carlos Llumitasi, and I have lived in the US for four years. I’m from Ecuador. At CCNY, I am a student of economics. I enjoy learning more about the world around me and math. I have always been quite curious. Once upon a time, the math teacher at my school began discussing money and the need for a financial system. At first, I was quite unsure and confused, but the teacher reassured me by saying that mathematics is like a universal language and that it is connected to everything in the universe.

I was one of the best students in my math class and did exceptionally well, developing a strong love for the subject. Because each solution was the result of a meticulous procedure that took years to master, mathematics intrigued me. Every equation I came across felt like a work of art, fueling my passion throughout every lesson. My arithmetic teacher’s homework assignments were challenging, but when I figured them out, I felt real delight and accomplishment. These encounters, along with an enlightening lesson on money theory and the value of a sound financial system I had in school, convinced me to select economics as my area of study.

I desired to understand the complex interactions between money, mathematics, and society. But my interest didn’t stop there. I started my journey to learn programming a few months ago. My fascination with programming’s fundamental ideas grew when I learned how mathematics could provide a computer the instructions it needs to carry out specific jobs. I still have an insatiable need to learn new things, and I am ready to keep broadening my knowledge base
